Photo Journal: Oradour-sur-Glane

Oradour-sur-Glane, a small village in Haute-Vienne  was occupied by the Nazi’s. on On 10 June 1944, 642 of its inhabitants, including its women and its children, babies in prams even, were massacred by a German Waffen-SS. After the war, a new village was built nearby, but president Charles de Gaulle ordered the burned remains of the original village maintained as a permanent memorial and museum.
